Beginner Roper? Just bring yourself and I will get you started. No horse or equipment necessary for your first lesson. I'll loan you a rope and will get you to swinging and delivering the rope on the dummy steer. 1 hour.. $30.00

We offer 3 clinics per year at the facility in Bakersfield. March, May and October. We offer 2 team roping schools per year at the Bakersfield facility. One in March and one in October. The clinic is on a Saturday and Sunday and is $295.00 for both days. A non-refundable deposit of $100 deposit is due to hold your spot as the clinics are limited.  Dusty holds a special jackpot on Sunday and the winning students are awarded beautiful buckles! Letter to the Editor (Ropers Sports News. Nov. 02 issue)

Dear Editor:

I just wanted to thank Dusty Watkins and his whole crew who put on one

of the best roping schools I have ever been to. And thank you to the

great sponsors who donated great awards.

In my roping career, I have attended many schools and been advised by

many top professional ropers and learned something from every one

of them. But I have to say, just the way Dusty presented the

fundamentals of roping, riding and proper equipment for your horse was

exceptional.

He got beginner ropers riding and roping and dallying on steers when it

was their first, weekend roping. And he helped me so much with my swing

and made some necessary changes, it will just get me to the next level

that I want to be in this stage of my roping career.

My sister, Erika, and I will definitely attend the next session. We

can't wait.
